The monotube range of Öhlins dampers is the most commonly used and versatile of all of their products, available in a vast range of configurations. The damper is of a basic gas-pressurised monotube design, featuring a 36mm or 46mm shimmed piston inside of a steel or aluminium cylinder. The damper is available with an internal gas reservoir in single adjustable form, and with an external reservoir in 2-way or 3-way adjustable forms. The reservoir can be remote hose mounted or piggyback mounted in a variety of configurations.

The 36mm monotube is typically utilised for lighter weight vehicles (e.g. Lotus Elise, Caterham 7, etc) whilst the 46mm damper is utilised for everything else (e.g. TVR Tuscan, Ford GT40, etc). These styles of damper can be made to fit almost any suspension setup on the market (excluding MacPherson strut, see 36mm + 46mm MacPherson Strut product page), and have been used in near enough every form of racing. They are primarily built-to-order to suit the desired application, and can be fully customised in both hardware and damping characteristics to suit your specific application.

Many of the monotube applications that we cater for are custom built, allowing us to accomodate specific customer and vehicle requirements at the point of sale, such as custom valving, or alterations to hardware specifications. Dampers are valved based on the specific purposes of the vehicle and we can take into account whether the car is used for road, trackdays, or racing, the vehicles weight, the type of tyres that it primarily runs on, etc. It also allows us to build dampers for just about any application on the market, in addition to the wide range of existing damper specifications that we have already developed.

• External canister on 2 and 3-way adjustable dampers, available in piggyback or remote hose mounted versions. Single adjustable dampers utilise an internal gas reservoir
   
• Built-in temperature compensation adapts to changes in oil temperature to give ultra consistent damping, as well as consistent adjustment
   
• Threaded spring platforms on damper body for spring preload adjustment, accomodating 1.9" and 46mm springs on 36mm dampers, and 2.25" springs on 46mm dampers
   
• All dampers are dyno tested and matched before delivery to the customer
   
• Dampers can be valved to suit specific customer requirements
   
• Fully rebuildable by an Ohlins trained damper engineer
